CT scan MPR of ankle with ultra-narrow collimation

MPR

The ultra narrow collimated (0.5 mm) axial scan yields high reso- lution MPR images. Any slice-plane can be obtained. Positioning of the foot for the scan becomes less critical. 3D reconstructions with surface shaded display (SSD) or volume rendering can be done to visualize metal, bone and joints but coronal MPR and sagittal MPR remain the most valuable tools for joint visualization.

Postoperative follow-up of calcaneal fracture Pin penetrating posterior subtalar joint best shown on coronal MPR (arrowheads) with secondary degenerative change best shown on sagittal MPR (arrows). Note how the thin collimation and higher kVP reduce metal artifacts.
